What will I create?
On Saturday 14th November (13.00-16.00) under the supervision of tutor Carrie, you’ll craft a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree ornament to treasure or gift. Discover the art of metal embossing in this festive 3 hour workshop and be amazed at what you can create as a total beginner!

You’ll start with a practice piece to help you get comfortable with the tools and techniques. Then you’ll move on to your personal project. You can choose from our supplied designs or bring your own.
You will be shown you how to transfer your drawing onto metal, and bring it to life through embossing. Along the way, you will learn tips and more embossing techniques. Once your embossing is complete, we’ll add the finishing touches by aging the metal for a vintage look.
Great for all crafting levels, no experience needed.
Templates are provided, or feel free to bring your own design ideas. If you are bringing your own design, we’ll be working on a piece of metal of 15cm x 15cm, so a design a centimetre or two smaller than that will fit well.
A relaxing, creative atmosphere with step-by-step support and everyone will head home with something festive and unique.

What will I create?
If you are wanting to learn a new skill and get creative this Christmas, why not join Ruth at CasaLingua on Saturday 28th November at 10.00 and learn the art of willow weaving! In this beginner-friendly workshop, Ruth will pass on her expertise, guiding you through the various stages and helping you create your very own beautiful willow star. The star will be quite large (approximately 30cm across) and is designed to be hung up on a wall, possibly lit up with fairy lights. If you are a quick learner, you may have time to create an additional smaller 2D item such as a star wand, ring or reindeer!

Who is Ruth?
Ruth is a freelance participatory creative, lead artist, workshop facilitator and project coordinator. She loves to engage with individuals, communities and organisations, improving mental wellbeing through willow weaving activities and participatory projects. Ruth loves passing on her skills to others and she is a welcome addition to the CasaLingua Creative programme of events!

Egle returns to CasaLingua for the third time and this time she is helping us to create our own fresh Christmas table centrepiece! Expect something a little wild, wonderfully seasonal and full of natural charm — a centrepiece to bring warmth and candlelit magic to your Christmas table.

Working with an abundance of natural materials and seasonal foliage, you’ll create a unique centrepiece using sustainable floristry practices, celebrating the textures, colours and scents of the winter season. Your arrangement will be nestled in a natural container you’ll love, finished with two elegant beeswax taper candles for a touch of understated festive luxury.

No experience necessary. Beginners are very welcome, and all materials are provided.All materials are provided but feel free to bring along anything that you would like to incorporate into your design.
Refreshments: Festive refreshments are provided at this event (a choice of hot or cold drinks plus mince pieces) so please be sure to let us know at the booking stage if you have any allergies or dietary requirements.
Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours.
Snippets of fabric, lace, ribbons and buttons, will incorporate into a unique and tactile fabric book personal to you.
What will I create?
Your expert tutor will guide you through the assembly of your book, focusing on fabric manipulation and layering to achieve depth and texture. You will have the opportunity to add stitch, appliqué and embellishments throughout, allowing you to personalise your creation and make it truly your own.

Materials will be supplied, but you may also wish to bring additional items such as a your own basic hand sewing kit (scissors, needles, etc) and any special snippets of materials you would like to include in your design.

We are delighted to welcome mixed media textile artist Deb Cooper to CasaLingua for this very special creative workshop. Deb is renowned for her use of a subtle and gentle colour palette, carefully selecting faded, natural tones that give new life to old and discarded materials. Her work often hints at hidden memories, layering meaning and emotion within each piece. Deb is a local artist but travels nationwide to deliver her workshops and is in demand!
