Our terms of service.
By booking a class or course, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions set out below. We reserve the right to update these terms and conditions at any time.
GDPR
To book a class, you must provide us with personal information. We will collect, store and process your information in line with current UK GDPR data regulations. We will contact you via email in order to organise your course/class and you will also be added to our mailing list. You can opt out of our mailing list at any point.
Booking: Group lessons
CasaLingua group lessons are booked as a block and the duration and cost of the class/course is agreed at the time of booking. No places are guaranteed until payment is received. All fees for the agreed class/course must be paid for via bank transfer by the due date stated on the invoice. Missed payments may result in your space being offered to another student. After completing one full term of lessons, you have the option to pay for classes either by block, monthly or annually. Where students are unsure of the suitability of a course, an initial trial lesson can be arranged.
Booking: One to one lessons
CasaLingua one to one lessons are arranged centrally and students are matched to a tutor based on availability and suitability. Students are asked to commit to 4 lessons at a time, with the option of an initial trial lesson beforehand. All fees for the agreed class/course must be paid for via bank transfer by the due date stated on the invoice. No places are guaranteed until payment is received. Missed payments may result in your space being offered to another student.
Cancellation
All booked sessions are non refundable or transferable. We are unable to process refunds and do not roll sessions over if you miss a session or you change your mind part way through your course. Depending on availability, you may be able to join an alternative class during that week or, in the case of one to one students, a tutor may offer an alternative time slot if they have availability that week; this is completely at the discretion of the CasaLingua class tutor. CasaLingua is under no obligation to rearrange lessons where a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notice.
In the unlikely event of any last-minute changes, or if the session needs to be cancelled by CasaLingua, we will give you as much notice as possible and do our best to provide a suitable alternative. We reserve the right to run sessions with ‘substitute’ tutors from the CasaLingua team and we will only cancel a class where no alternative arrangement can be put in place.
CasaLingua reserves the right to cancel or postpone the start date of any group course where insufficient students have booked. In this situation, you will be given one week’s notice of the postponement/cancellation and the option to take a full refund if you are not able to wait for the course to run on the proposed new date.
If we need to cancel sessions for any reason outside of the control of CasaLingua including that of a force Majeure (including but not limited to extreme weather conditions, earthquakes, strikes or terrorist activity) CasaLingua has the right to terminate sessions and events immediately by giving notice to the customer. CasaLingua reserves the right to provide online sessions as an alternative in such situations.
Health and safety
Illness
We want everyone who attends our classes to feel safe and secure. Please carefully consider the wellbeing of other learners and do not attend a class if you are unwell.
Accessibility
CasaLingua Language School is located on the 2nd floor of a shared working space. Access to the room is via 3 flights of stairs and, as such the room may not be suitable or accessible to students with restricted mobility or respiratory illnesses. Students are asked to make their own assessment of their condition and the accessibility of our space before committing to lessons.
Fire Safety/Lockdown procedures
All CasaLingua tutors are briefed on the Health and Safety policies in place at our premises. Escape plans and fire procedures are printed and displayed by the door at CasaLingua Language School; risk assessments are regularly updated and shared with staff.
Children’s classes/events
The safety of your child is of paramount importance to us during our taught sessions. Parents bringing children to our afterschool club are asked not to leave children unsupervised in communal areas before or after a class/event; parents and carers are responsible for the safety of their children before and after sessions take place. We strongly advise that children do not bring expensive items (jewellery, phones, electronic devices) to their class in order to avoid accidental damage and/or loss.
Whilst every effort is made to provide a safe, secure space, personal loss, injury, damage, neglect, or involvement to or by you and any other attendee will not be the liability of CasaLingua.
Allergies and special dietary requirements
We like to be able provide learners with drinks during our lessons and, at times, learners like to bring in food/drinks to celebrate birthdays or significant events with their classmates. Please notify us of any allergies or special dietary requirements at the time of booking so we can prepare accordingly. When booking please do give as much information as possible.
Expected behaviour.
Our sessions should be enjoyable for all. We expect all students - adults and children - to behave in an appropriate manner such that teaching can take place and everyone is able to participate and learn. We reserve the right to ask anyone not behaving in an appropriate manner to leave the session immediately. Parents may be called to collect a child if the session is being severely disrupted by poor or dangerous behaviour.
Photography
Photos and videos of our sessions are often used to celebrate learning taking place and for promotional purposes. By providing media consent you are giving permission for CasaLingua to take and use photos and videos for use in printed and electronic publications (Flyer, prospectus etc.) as well as on social media platforms and the CasaLingua website.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is about embedding practices throughout the organisation to ensure the protection of children and / or vulnerable adults wherever possible. Our safeguarding policy seeks to ensure that CasaLingua undertakes its responsibilities with regard to protection of children and / or vulnerable adults. This includes a safe recruitment policy and all teaching staff must have a completed a basic DBS check (or an enhanced check if working unsupervised with minors). Through our policy, we set out a framework that supports all of our tutors in their practices and clarifies the organisation’s expectations.
